Historic Preservation Consultant
City of Springfield Historic Commission, Springfield, OR
Completing historic assessment and Intensive Level Survey of circa 1930s
barn. Researched commercial building in downtown historic district to
determine National Register eligibility. Completed National Register
Preliminary Eligibility Evaluation on Gray Ranch property. Projects
involved site investigations, documents review, archival research, title
and deed records search, and oral history interviews. Jan. 2009 -
present.
Maryanne & Donald Wirth, Tangent, OR
Conducted research on Jenks' family historic farmhouse to determine
National Register eligibility. Included site investigations, documents
review, archival research, and oral history interviews. Nov. 2008.
City of Evanston Historic Preservation Commission, Evanston, WY
Co-authored successful nomination of Wyoming State Insane Asylum and
multiple associated resources as historic district on National Register
of Historic Places. Conducted documents review, extensive archival
research, site assessments, surveys, and recordation methodology.
Attended meetings with City of Evanston staff, CLG, and State Review
Board. Authored and managed CLG grant to fund preparation of same
nomination project. Established budget and project timeline, and
prepared written progress reports. Mar. 2001 - Oct. 2002.
Restoration Apprentice, Contractor: Jean Skinner, Springfield,

Worked alongside professional restorer of circa 1930s wooden carousel
rounding boards. Involved finish sanding and detail painting with

Graduate Administrative Fellow, Historic Preservation Program,
University of Oregon, Eugene, OR
Prepared course materials and logistical information for 2000 Pacific
Northwest Preservation Field School. Presented progress reports at
monthly meetings with Director and Advisory Board. Also served as
scheduler and minutes recorder. Designed and disseminated national
marketing brochure and informational materials for 2001 field school
targeting potential students, homeowners, and preservation

Field School Assistant, 2000 Pacific Northwest Preservation Field

Contracted with Pacific Northwest Preservation Field School to assist
Director and guest instructors with one-week field school session
on-location at National Register listed Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson House,
Eugene, Oregon. Assisted students with daily hands-on preservation
activities including wood window restoration and on-site archeology.
Assembled reading materials, purchased supplies, arranged for catering,
and set up equipment. Aug. 2000.
Museum Intern, Shelton-McMurphey-Johnson (SMJ) House, SMJ
Associates, Eugene, OR
Received academic credit for internship. Initiated inventory and
cataloging of house collections through research methodology,
photography, and recordation. Created customized computer forms and
entered data on PastPerfect software program. Mar. 2000 - June 2000.

Assisted with revitalization of downtown central business district
(National Trust Main Street Program) following program of economic
restructuring, historic preservation, design, and promotions. Jan. 1995

Grant writing & Grant Management
Assisted with writing and management of various local, state, and
federal grants. Included Community Development Block Grant and EPA
Brownfields Pilot Grant, both concerning National Register listed Union
Pacific Railroad Complex, city-owned property. Authored successful CLG
grant to fund preparation of advisory design guidelines for Downtown
Evanston Historic District. Authored and managed consecutive CLG grants
and local tourism grants to fund Evanston Air Show, Roundhouse Festival,
and archeological excavations of Evanston's historic Chinatown.
Bid Specifications & RFPs
Assisted with writing of RFPs and preparation of bid specifications for
grant projects. Served on interview committees to review proposals and
select winning contracts for preservation awareness video production,
and stabilization/restoration work on Union Pacific Railroad Complex.
Attended meetings with professional contractors during course of grants.
CLG & City Groups
Prepared and disseminated materials on preservation education,
preservation-related matter, and annual/seasonal fundraisers. Materials
included press releases, brochures, flyers, and tickets. Organized
activities for State Historic Preservation Conference, Preservation
Week, and other events. Attended weekly/monthly meetings of Evanston
Historic Preservation Commission (CLG), Urban Renewal Board, Design
Committee, and Roundhouse Restoration Incorporated as City of Evanston
staff member. Served also as scheduler and minutes recorder for those
groups.
Architecture, Archival Research & Design
Provided consultations to businesses on façade improvements that were
sensitive to design, materials, architectural style, and context of
historic downtown. Helped create workbook featuring historic buildings
and preservation terminology for use by local school and general public.
Assisted with updating Evanston Downtown Historic Walking Tour brochure.
Conducted archival research on history of medical service in Uinta
County for City's Design Committee. Designed eleven-poster series for
display at local hospital depicting that history through documentation,
typography, and photography.
